Aideen
Hession

As a member of
Blue Heaven, Aideen Hession plays banjo, some guitar and does
a little singing. Although Aideen calls Newark, Delaware her home, she was born in
Virginia and raised in Maryland. Both of Aideen's parents played music. Her
mother was a classically trained pianist and her father played bass fiddle.
At age
13, Aideen picked up the guitar after having an introduction to music by playing saxophone
and singing in the school choir.
Throughout
the 1980s, Aideen performed locally as a folk duo with her sister, in which she
played guitar and sang harmony vocals. In the late 1980s, she was introduced
to Bluegrass and Old Time music as a festival in southern Delaware, and from that moment
on, she wanted to play the banjo. Several years later, she bought an old five-string
and began taking lessons.
Aideen
enjoys chorale singing and, performs as both a soprano and alto.
Aideen's banjo
playing style and love of Bluegrass Gospel music make her a perfect complement to the Blue Heaven. |
